Evolved high aerobic capacity has context-specific effects on gut microbiota

چکیده

Gut microbiota is expected to coevolve with the host's physiology and may play a role in adjusting energy metabolism suit environment. To evaluate effects of both evolved host environmental context shaping gut microbiota, we used unique combination (1) experimental evolution create selection lines for fast (2) laboratory-to-field translocation study. Mature bank voles Myodes glareolus from selected high aerobic capacity (A lines) unselected control (C were released into large (0.2 ha) outdoor enclosures longitudinal monitoring. examine whether natural environment elicited similar or more pronounced impact on next generation, also sampled field-reared offspring. The characterized using 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing fecal samples. artificial had minimal laboratory conditions but field conditions, there differences between vs . C diversity, community, resilience microbiota. Notably, differed less abundant bacteria throughout experiment. lab-to-field transition resulted an increase alpha diversity altered community composition by significant relative abundance Actinobacteria decrease Patescibacteria. Also, showed different temporal patterns changes composition, as average lines, not A was temporarily reduced during initial field. In surviving young voles, significantly higher A-line than C-line voles. These results indicate that association context-specific, likely mediated behavioral physiological modifications response

Individual diet has sex-dependent effects on vertebrate gut microbiota

Vertebrates harbour diverse communities of symbiotic gut microbes. Host diet is known to alter microbiota composition, implying that dietary treatments might alleviate diseases arising from altered microbial composition ('dysbiosis'). However, it remains unclear whether diet effects are general or depend on host genotype. Here we show that gut microbiota composition depends on interactions betw...

Ovariectomy results in differential shifts in gut microbiota in low versus high aerobic capacity rats

The increased risk for cardiometabolic disease with the onset of menopause is widely studied and likely precipitated by the decline in endogenous estradiol (E2), yet the precise mechanisms are unknown. The gut microbiome is involved in estrogen metabolism and has been linked to metabolic disease, suggesting its potential involvement in the postmenopausal phenotype. Furthermore, menopause-associ...

Impact of the Gut Microbiota on Vaccine Responses

Non-responsiveness or poor responsiveness to vaccines are challenging issues in vaccine development, and efforts have been made to find out the potential reasons for these conditions. Intestinal microbiome plays a key role in regulating and development of immune system and the composition and diversity of microbiota in different individuals on the one hand, and the imbalance of intestinal micro...

Transfer of dysbiotic gut microbiota has beneficial effects on host liver metabolism

Gut microbiota dysbiosis has been implicated in a variety of systemic disorders, notably metabolic diseases including obesity and impaired liver function, but the underlying mechanisms are uncertain. To investigate this question, we transferred caecal microbiota from either obese or lean mice to antibiotic-free, conventional wild-type mice. We found that transferring obese-mouse gut microbiota ...
